Top Tuscan Producers
It was such fun to share a few glasses of wine wth Ricardo Gabrile, founder of PR Communicare Il Vino and Lisa Tommasini during Anteprime Toscana this year.
To kickoff his company’s 20th anniversary, Riccardo held a small event for international journalists at Gladius Bistrot. The event, titled “Three Chianti Classico Expressions,” brought together three producers the agency represents: Castello La Leccia, Querceto di Castellina, and Riecine.
Though I tasted through all the wines and found them excellent, I spent most of the evening speaking with Alessandro Campatelli of Riecine.
Alessandro has a gregarious presence — open, engaged, comfortable in a room full of journalists. He explained his parents are lawyers and wanted him to be an engineer, but he soon fell in love with the world of wine. He became an enologist, traveled the world picking up new skills in many wineries, and worked with the famed Michel Rolland.
This experience and connections helped him get his present position as winemaker, and recently, owner at Riecine.
The other producers, Castello La Leccia and Querceto di Castellina, poured their wines in the same relaxed spirit. There was movement between tables, introductions made, quick impressions exchanged.
Overall a great evening and opportunity to meet top producers on a more intimate level.
